Silver Sindoor Box: Ranu Boppana
Ranu Boppana, shares a magical story behind a small silver sindoor box that belonged to her mother. The peocock becomes a mystical symbol of comfort after her mother’s passing.
Ranu Boppana, is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who practiced in New York City, taught at NYU and has been a passionate advocate of humanistic medical education.
For twenty years, Ranu served on the Board of the South Asian Council for Social Services (SACSS) in Queens, New York and is currently on the Advisory Council.
In 2022, she curated the exhibit, South Asia and the Institute: Transformative Connections, with Professor Sana Aiyar of MIT History and Nureen Das, Managing Director of MIT-India. at the Maihaugen Gallery, MIT and is now a digital exhibition at the MIT Libraries.
