This little beaded object is probably a bull made in the late 1800s by my husband Sharath’s great grandmother. The decorations depicted on the bull might be connected to a holiday like “Sankranti” when cows and bulls are honored for their hard work in the fields in South India. The glass beads are extremely tiny. Sharath never knew his great grandmother but he appreciates the whimsy as well as the care and affection with which it was executed. He imagines her smile when she finished making it. Her personality comes through in this object and part of her lives on.
